According to the British media Daily Telegraph, Tuanzebe is suing Manchester United for suspected medical negligence, which is related to the medical advice provided to him by the club.
The Telegraph learned that Tuanzebe had filed a lawsuit in the High Court. He left Manchester United when his contract expired two years ago and joined Ipswich in September 2023.
Tuanzebe's lawyer declined to comment on the lawsuit. The player suffered from injuries during his career at Manchester United before joining Ipswich. He helped Ipswich advance to the Premier League that season, but left the team after the team was relegated and signed with Burnley last month, who returned to the top league.
Tuanzebe joined Manchester United youth training at the age of 8 and served as captain of all ages. However, after completing his first team debut in January 2017, he made only 37 appearances for the club in the following six and a half years. During
, Tuanzebe was loaned to Villa, Naples and Stoke City, but his injury hindered his efforts to become a regular main player at Manchester United.
Tuanzebe's problem began when Manchester United suffered a hip injury while warming up with a Premier League match with Liverpool in October 2019. Then in the League Cup victory over Colchester United in December of that year, he was injured again and was reimbursed for the season.
Tuanzebe missed the start of the next season due to a foot injury and was absent again at the beginning of the 2022-23 season. He did not resume training until January of the following year, and was then loaned to Stoke City.
Injuries plagued him until he joined Ipswich. There, Tuanzebe established himself as the team's first right-back, making more than 40 appearances. Last October, he accidentally cut his thumb while washing dishes and needed surgery.
This is the second legal dispute that Manchester United faces on issues related to Tuanzebe.
In November last year, it was reported that a FA licensed agent asked the club for money, claiming that Manchester United had agreed to compensate him for his promotion of Tuanzebe's loan to Stoke City.
The Telegraph was told that the agent had reported the matter to the FA, accusing Manchester United of alleged violations of its brokerage regulations. It is reported that the dispute is still ongoing.
