Qualcomm today (26th) announced the launch of a breakthrough new processor "Dragonwing Q-6690", which is the world's first enterprise-level mobile processor that fully integrates ultra-high frequency wireless radio resolution (UHF RFID). This processor includes built-in wireless technologies such as 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Blue Teeth 6.0 and Ultra Width, supporting neighborhood-aware experience and outstanding global connectivity.

Qualcomm points out that by combining integrated RFID with AI and advanced connection capabilities, Dragonwing Q6690 enables edge devices in retail, commercial and industrial fields to connect, operate and interact in a smarter, proximity-aware manner. In addition, from strong handheld devices, retail sales point (POS) systems to smart information service stations, the processor supports multiple exterior designs, provides OEM and ODM manufacturers with a scale-up and upgradeable platform, and supports a software configuration function combination that can be upgraded through over-the-air download technology (OTA).

Currently, leading OEM manufacturers such as Zebra, Honeywell, Urovo, HMD Secure and CipherLab have taken the lead in adopting this platform, and related commercial devices are expected to be launched in the next few months.

Qualcomm Vice President and Retail Business Responsible Art Miller said he is excited to work with retailers. What they need is not only a powerful and connected platform, but also a strong customer expectation that meets the continuous evolution, from smarter information service stations and handheld devices to real-time inventory analysis and non-contact experience.

Dragonwing Q-6690 is the world's first enterprise-level mobile processor that fully integrates RFID capabilities. It does not require an external RFID reader module, thereby making the device design smaller and more efficient. This integration helps to more easily realize non-contact usage scenarios centered on security, such as door ban control, asset tracking, inventory management and product verification, especially for retail, logistics and industrial applications.

In addition, the processor introduces a software configuration function combination, allowing OEM manufacturers to select the most suitable products based on requirements such as computing performance, multimedia functions, camera support or weekly configuration, and upgrade through over-the-air download technology without redesigning the hardware. This modular design not only speeds up product launch time and reduces certification costs, but also extends the product life cycle through over-the-air download upgrades to meet customer needs.

Dicargen RFID and product traceability responsible for the Dragonwing Q-6690, which has built-in fully integrated RFID and AI technology, is a continuity innovation that is expected to maximize the company's operational efficiency, create a smarter experience in market customers, and strengthen product traceability, fully support the company's sustainable development goals.
